This website is intended as growing resource for anyone studying or interested in ancient history and archaeology. Here you will find links to my articles and exclusive material written for the site alone.

Whilst I predominantly work as a writer and researcher of ancient history and archaeology, this is not all I write about. The site also details my historical and cultural travel writing, as well as articles inspired by my own health experiences and my latest adventure as a new mother.

I have always had a passion for the past. I hold a degree in Ancient History and Archaeology from the University of Leicester and a Masters in Ancient History and Historiography from the University of Bristol.

 My particular area of interest is ancient Roman history. My undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations on the role of religion and magic in Roman society have both been published. You can find details here.

 But my work isn't limited to the Romans. I am currently the feature writer for archaeology at Suite101. Here, you'll find  many of my archaeology articles and also many on ancient history.

 I have written on a number of periods and subjects. Further details can be found on my archaeology and ancient history pages which also offer links into my articles. 

Topics include Roman culture and society, Roman religion and festivals, the history of Rome's gods and goddesses, roman emperors, ancient Greek history, mythology, famous archaeologists, archaeological techniques, ancient mummies, overviews of the Minoans, Etruscans and Celts, and the archaeology of Britain, the Romans, ancient Greeks and North Africa and the Middle East. And its growing!

Many of my articles are about places I have visited and studied first hand, across Europe, Africa and the Middle East and are accompanied by photographs taken either by me or my partner Neil.    

 I love to travel and have explored many parts of Europe, North Africa and the Middle East. I like to stray from the usual tourist paths and have visit places such as Syria and Libya. Adventures to date include camel riding in the Sahara and having tea with the Bedouin. For further details, please see my travel pages.

Some of my travels have been motivated by my interest in history, others for the sheer pleasure of discovering the customs and cultures beyond my own.  Becoming a parent has been a whole new experience and one I am keen to write about. No one can ever be fully prepared for the impact a child has on their life. I hope the Parenting and Health Page will provide answers to some of the many questions new parents have, to help them care for their baby and themselves. Articles relate to postpartum health after a Caesarean section including tips for successful breastfeeding and the benefits of baby massage.

This page is also dedicated to stress busting and relaxation. Articles include the best exercises to relieve stress, the benefits of meditation and other general tips for relaxation including the benefits of a spa break.
